Living without distraction

From today’s Scripture: “‘For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.’”—Mt 6:21
It’s hard not to get wrapped up in material things in our culture. Is it a new iPad? A better car? A bigger house in a nicer neighborhood? Or do I covet the beauty and talent of someone I know? It all can be distracting!
Living without distraction is the key to an authentic spiritual life. When we stop worrying about what we don’t have and what we can have; and start appreciating what we do have, and what we can do with it, our life of love begins.
Let us pray: God, give me holy detachment. Help me not to covet those things that I don’t have; help me to treasure the most important things that you have given me.
