The road less traveled

From today’s Scripture: “‘Enter through the narrow gate.’”—Mt 7:13
Most times I seek to find the easy way out. “Just get it done,” is a philosophy I may use. If this is my philosophy of life, then I probably miss much of life. Jesus uses the narrow gate to describe the way that his disciples must use for salvation. Christians use the road less traveled, the way often contrary to this world.
For Jesus’ disciples, each person is very important. I am called to listen to each person, and to celebrate the uniqueness of each person. That is the narrow gate.
Society would call us to celebrate only those who can somehow help me. Jesus says otherwise. Going through the narrow gate may take more time, cost more, energy but what’s most important in life?
Let us pray: Loving Lord, you showed us the way. Help us to have the courage to follow.
