Love, love, love.

From today’s Scripture: “At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.” —Mt 9:36
Jesus had the depths of mercy. He was moved by the individual and social suffering of the people of his time. Does that suffering, today, move us, too? Or do we keep the romantic, the compassionate, part of our faith as something private?
Let us remember that the whole law is summed up in loving God above all things and our neighbor as ourselves. Living it implies compassion for those who suffer and doing for them what we would like them to do for us.
Let us pray: Jesus, make me feel compassion for those who are exhausted and helpless, as you did and continue to do every day.
