14th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Awake!

From today’s Scripture: “The spirit entered into me and set me on my feet.”—Ez 2:2

How often are we jolted to attention? Maybe it’s the day-to-day where the Spirit can enter us and “set us on our feet.” For young parents, it’s a baby crying, day or night; for someone else it might be a distant ambulance siren. Maybe it’s a forgotten commitment that leaps into mind. Truly, none of these compares to the Holy Spirit grabbing Ezekiel’s attention in today’s reading. But the spirit of God speaks to us in many ways.

Let us pray: Lord, help me to hear your voice calling as I go through this day. Let me see you in the people I meet, in the places I see, in the love that I share.
