Daily Reflection

16th Tuesday in Ordinary Time

Open my eyes.

From today’s Scripture: Whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother.”—Mt 12:50

I believe God wants to open our eyes to a new reality where family is defined by spiritual relationship, not just kinship. It’s challenging and exciting at the same time!

The challenge is considering what I’ll need to let go of in order to open my heart to people that might not feel like family yet. The excitement is to imagine what new depth of love I can experience. Isn’t it just like God to take what’s already good (a healthy family relationship) and multiply it into something even better than we could have imagined?!

Let us pray:  Lord, heal my heart of any fears that hinder love. Give me new vision to see all of your children as my true brothers and sisters. Thank you for the great richness I can experience as part of your family!
