Mercy and justice

From today’s Scripture: “‘I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!’”—Lk 12:49
Fire burns, and a wildfire can be very destructive. We are faced with a contradiction that Jesus is the Prince of Peace but has come to sow division. Today’s Gospel compels us to rethink our images of the mission of Jesus. He desires a new earth and a new heaven, where sin and evil are burned away at any cost!!
Jesus invites us to be full of love, mercy and justice so that no thing and no one gets in the way of. To do this, Jesus held nothing back including his life. Are we ready to light the world on fire with Love, Compassion, and Justice? Are we ready to blaze a new path for the world even if we get singed along the way?
Let us pray: O Lord, may I be willing to light the world on fire with love and justice. May I not fear the cost to give all to Jesus and his Kingdom.
