21st Friday in Ordinary Time

Here and now

From today’s Scripture: “Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”—Mt 25:13

We are all familiar with the phrase “hurry up and wait.” Sometimes the wait can be long.

This parable can help us to focus on the here and now. It can help us learn to live in the present moments of life and seek and find God there. If we can do that, everything else in our lives will take care of itself.

Whether the groom arrives early or late, it will not matter. I am focused on right now. If the groom, Jesus, has been a part of my everyday life, entering the banquet will not catch us off guard.

Let us pray: Lord, may I grow in my awareness of your continual presence in my life. Help me to live and love in the present! Let me be prepared to receive you with gratitude.
