Power of the Word
From today’s Scripture: “‘What is there about his word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirit, and they come out.’”—Lk 4:36
Speak Lord, and it will be done. In today’s Gospel it is Jesus speaking to the demons with power and authority. God says, ‘Let it be done’ and it is done. From creation to the present day, the word of God has power and authority.
Power over demons, nature, sickness, evil—all this Jesus has as proof of his divinity. Why do we not call on him with faith in that power each day of our lives? What are we missing because we are not astonished at his word?
Let us pray: Jesus, speak your word and heal this world of ours from sickness, death, and demons. Give me faith in the power of your word.
