Put Jesus first.

From today’s Scripture: “Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.”—Lk 14:27
One of the main things we ask those who serve with the Glenmary Volunteers on Joppa Mountain is to put themselves last. Those volunteers come for a week of mission-based service and put God and those they serve first. In the Gospel reading, Jesus calls us as disciples put him first, above all other aspects of our lives. This is a challenging call but one we are called to as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Let us pray: Lord, help me to always put your son Jesus Christ first in my daily life. Strengthen me always to be present to my responsibility as a disciple of Christ.
