23rd Tuesday in Ordinary Time

Grounded in prayer

From today’s Scripture: “Jesus departed to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God.”—Lk 6:12

In the Gospel today we find Jesus is tasked with the important decision of choosing the 12 Apostles. To guide him in this great decision he takes a whole night in prayer to God. As disciples of Christ do we ground ourselves in prayer when we are called to make challenging decisions? Jesus took the time to talk with God about choosing those who will be his apostles. How often do we let God into the most challenging decisions of our lives?

Let us pray: Lord God, help me to remember your guidance when I am faced with important decisions in my life.
