24th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Think about it!

From today’s Scripture: “If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,’  but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”—Jas 2:15-17

When you consider the question, “How am I living the Christian life?” what part of your life do you look at? Do you think mostly about your prayer life, or the time you spend in church, or the volunteer work you do for the church? That may be too limited.

Jesus commanded us to love God above all and to love everybody as ourselves. When I love somebody, I want them to have a full, happy life, and I do what I can to help. Imagine your love now for a stranger or a needy person you might see today.

Let us pray: Father, show me how I can care about the happiness of each person who comes into my life.
