Daily Reflection

25th Saturday in Ordinary Time

God is with us!

From today’s Scripture: “‘Sing and rejoice, O daughter Zion! See, I am coming to dwell among you,’ says the Lord.”Zec 2:14

Emmanuel! God is with us! “Sing and rejoice,” says the prophet Zechariah, because the Lord has promised to dwell among us. Before you know it, we’ll be singing Advent’s O Come, O Come Emmanuel because it speaks so clearly to this promise. But it also tells us why the Lord is here: to ransom captive Israel.

Rejoice indeed! But we also must come to grips with the sorrows of his passion. The pandemic has brought us much sorrow over this last year and it continues to do so. Where can we find our strength and comfort? God is with useven in what seems like such forsaken circumstancesturning sorrow into joy.

Let us pray: Dear God, as you promised, you sent Jesus your son to dwell on earth as both God and man, to free us from our sins, to provide the path to eternal life. Thank you for delivering on your promise and never forsaking your people!
