Father Bishop’s mission

From today’s Scripture: “‘Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.’”—Lk 12:48b
Today the Church celebrates the Memorial of the North American Martyrs and Glenmary celebrates the life of our founder, Father William Howard Bishop. Both these French Jesuits and our own Father Bishop were devoted to missionary work in North America.
God entrusted Father Bishop with a special mission to found a new community of missioners to serve in areas that almost no one else wanted to go. Likewise, each one of us is called by God to serve in our own unique way. What gifts have I been entrusted with? How can I use those to serve God, my parish, my community, my family and my neighbors?
Let us pray: Loving God, help me to emulate Father Bishop and all the saints who have given me such a good example, offering themselves up for the service of the Church.
