Few good deeds go unpunished.

From today’s Scripture: “Woman, you are set free of your infirmity.”—Lk 13:12
Jesus is amazing. In his public ministry, he had the ability to see to the heart of an issue, and to respond with prudence and charity.
Take his encounter with the crippled woman: Jesus knows it is the sabbath, a day during which work is not to be done. But he also knows that this woman has been suffering for 18 years! He adapts to the situation and responds by healing the woman.
Of course, the Pharisees are not happy. They criticize Jesus for working on the sabbath. But it seems they lack the insight of Jesus—they lack prudence. They lack the ability to see to the heart of the situation, and to respond so that the greatest good and love can be done.
Let us pray: Lord Jesus, help me to be prudent. Give me the wisdom to see to the heart of the situations I encounter today, and to respond to bring about the greatest good.
