A mustard seed

From today’s Scripture: “‘What is the Kingdom of God like?’ ‘…It is like a mustard seed that a man took and planted in the garden. When it was fully grown, it became a large bush and the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches.’”—Lk 13:18-19
Today we see two examples of the Kingdom of God—the mustard seed and yeast bringing forth plenty from little. It’s striking that Jesus uses two common people (a farmer and a housewife) accomplishing so much with so little. The two examples Jesus uses raise two questions for me. One, what small thing can I do to be that small seed or bit of yeast that will grow into the kingdom of heaven for others? And two, even more challenging, what small thing in my life must I change so God will reign in my life?
Let us pray: Lord, help me nurture the seed of faith in my life to bloom into the Kingdom of God.
