34th Friday in Ordinary Time

Finding time

From today’s Scripture: “Jesus said, ‘Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.’”—Luke 21:33

How often do I take time to read the Bible? We spend so much time worrying over aspects of our lives that are beyond our control. We spend so much energy on accruing things that will only one day be donated to St. Vincent de Paul (thank God they are there!). In Scripture we find the words and wisdom of Jesus. We learn lessons and new insights each and every time we read the Gospels or the Letters of St. Paul. Let us take the statement of Jesus seriously. Carve out time each day to read Scripture. Listen to his words that “will not pass away.”

Let us pray: Lord Jesus, you have the words of eternal life. Give me the grace to structure my day so that I may take time to read and meditate on your word in Scripture. Show me today and every day the path of life, so that I may faithfully follow you.
