Ready to go

From today’s Scripture: “Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise like a trap.’” —Luke 21:34
Are you ready to go? Today marks the end of our liturgical year. The readings at Mass these past few weeks have had at their heart one central question: Are you ready to go? Our death should not come as a surprise—we should not be caught off guard like the foolish servant. Whether we are young, old, or in-between, let us always be ready to go, for we know not the day or the hour.
Let us pray: Lord Jesus, give me the grace to keep my house in order, to be ready at all times to meet you. Let me not be caught off guard. Strengthen me today to be aware that I am but a pilgrim. My true home is in your kingdom.
