Daily Reflection

6th Sunday of Easter

Be not afraid.

From today’s Scripture: Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.—Jn 14:27

“Look, I’m telling you this now so that when it happens you won’t freak out!” Jesus must have had me in mind when he told the apostles this. He knew I needed the Bible to remind me 365 times to be not afraid. Yet the only times I can truly be unafraid is when I let go of control and concede that God must know better than I do. When I put aside my own will, beautiful things can happen. When has this been the case in your life? When did you feel that you were in God and God was in you?

Let us pray: Almighty God, you offer peace not as the world gives. Allow me to be engulfed in your peace so that I may trust your will and submit to your plan no matter how little I understand it. All I need to understand is that you are all goodness and you will make all things new.
