Turn to God.

From today’s Scripture: “Blessed be God, and praised be his great name, and blessed be all his holy angels.”—Tb 11:14
The first readings this week have followed the saga of Tobit, a man of God who becomes blind and despondent. We further read of Sarah, a woman who was married seven times, whose husbands were killed by demons. She is distraught. Both pray to God for death.
The Lord hears their prayers and shows mercy on them both. He sent Tobit’s son Tobiah to marry Sarah, and allowed Tobiah to cure his father’s sight with the help of archangel Raphael. This story shows the importance of turning to God, even in the darkest times. Tobit and Sarah suffered, and while they lost hope in some sense, they never lost faith.
Let us pray: God, hear our prayers and send your angels to comfort us. When we waver in hope, increase our faith. Help us to depend on you.
