All Saints’ Day

Daily Reflection

All Saints’ Day

Saints, all.

From today’s Scripture: “We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope based on him makes himself pure, as he is pure.” —1 Jn 3:2-3

We all are saints, right? Well, maybe not yet! We strive for holiness though, and we pray that we will be holy people til the end of our earthly lives. Some people are so obviously holy that we name them saints—we want to imitate them! The rest of us will have to wait to find out about ourselves and those we love. I’m thinking we’ll find lots of friends and family in heaven! But to be holy is to be a saint, either side of the grave. And we all are called to holiness.

Let us pray: Holy Spirit, shape in me the desire to be a saint. Strengthen me to love you with heart, soul and mind, and to love my neighbor as myself.
