Children of God
From today’s Scripture: “Heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, ’You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.’”—Luke 3:22
What must it have been like for Jesus to hear his father’s voice proclaiming pride in him? What would it mean for you if God proclaimed the same of you?
Your creator is proud of you. Try saying it aloud yourself. Go on, you can say it quietly to yourself, but say it aloud: “[your name], you are my beloved child, with you I am well pleased.”
Were you surprised? Did you hear the ring of truth behind those words? They are true.
Let us pray: Lord, help me to know how much you love me. Help me learn to love myself and to love others as you do. Give me the courage to go set the world on fire with news of your love and mercy!
