When Jesus calls

From today’s Scripture: “Jesus stopped and said, ‘Call him.’ So they called the blind man, saying to him, ‘Take courage; get up, he is calling you.’ He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.”—Mk 10:49-50
The blind man’s reaction reminds me of a child waiting for a parent to get home from work or seeing a loved one at the airport after time apart. You can feel the blind man’s excitement in the urgency of his actions when Jesus calls him. Do we respond with the same urgency and excitement when Jesus calls us? Are our hearts open enough to hear him when he calls?
Let us pray: Lord Jesus, thank you for being with me today. Help me to be more aware of your presence in my life, and quiet my heart so that I can hear your voice.
