Eighth Tuesday in Ordinary Time

Be holy.

From today’s Scripture: “Do not act in compliance with the desires of your former ignorance but, as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in every aspect of your conduct….”—1 Pt 1:14-15

For believers, there is a moment where we truly take ownership of our faith. Some are converts, but many of us are raised Christian and then mature into adult faith. Either way, there is a before-and-after moment. Before we truly believe we may find ourselves justifying or rationalizing our sins, but once we know Jesus, hopefully, we strive to be holy as he is holy.

It takes work to remain in the after stage and avoid the desires of our former ignorance, but as we know, with God all things are possible.

Let us pray: Jesus, help me to be holy as you are holy.
