Feast of St. Cabrini

Daily Reflection

Feast of St. Cabrini

Strive for justice.

From today’s Scripture: “And the Apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our  faith.”’The Lord replied, ‘If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea,” and it would obey you.’”—Lk 17:5-6

We remember Mother Cabrini today, the first US citizen canonized and patron saint of immigrants.  She was a persistent servant of the poor. But you don’t have to be famous to be a servant. There are persistent men and women in every age. They see mustard seeds, tiny glimmers of hope, and imagine how a little can become a lot. They persist in service.

Let us pray: Lord, let me strive for justice in everything I do today. Open my ears, and my heart, to the needs, even the demands, of those who have less, to those who live in unjust situations.
