Feast of the Visitation

Daily Reflection

Feast of the Visitation

Say yes to Jesus.

From today’s Scripture: “Mary said: ‘My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord: my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.’”—Lk 1:46-47

These words of Mary give me great joy and cause me to ask, what does my soul proclaim? The words of Mary must have been proclaimed by the Holy Spirit. Mary was a teen when she shared these feelings with her cousin Elizabeth. Her yes to be the mother of Jesus changed her and the world forever.

Each of us can change the world by our yeses, even if it may seem like a small way. Mary brought joy to her cousin. We also can bring joy to others when we remember we are messengers of the Lord. I often try to remember, how do I bring joy in my prayer before I visit or encounter another in my daily life?

Let us pray: Loving Lord, I pray that I may know of your gift of joy in my heart and be able to share this joy in all that I encounter. It is your grace that guides me.
