Becoming more Christ-like

From today’s Scripture: “This is the way we may know that we are in union with him: whoever claims to abide in him must walk just as he walked.”—1Jn 2:6
Every time I read this Scripture passage, I am reminded of some often repeated expressions—”walk the walk and talk the talk,” or, “walk in his footsteps” or,” “Do you plan on following in their footsteps?” There are others, each expressing that same idea: Go beyond words.
Following Christ, involves more than adopting a series of beliefs. We must put our faith into action. We must seek to become more Christ-like. If my beliefs and actions do not match, whose footsteps am I really walking in, and where am I going?
Let us pray: Heavenly Father, guide my steps today as I seek to put our faith into action. May each step bring me closer to your son, Jesus.
