Fulfilling our vocation
From today’s Scripture: “It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain.”—Jn 15:16
Imagine yourself on a playground, waiting to be chosen to play for a team. More than likely, you’re hoping you won’t be picked last. Yet we can’t choose which team we play for, we must be chosen. Luckily for us as Christians, we have already been chosen—it’s even in our name. We are Christ’s.
We are each appointed for a specific mission that only we can fulfill. In fulfilling our vocation, in serving as missioners in our own day-to-day, we bear fruit that will last. Who knows how many lives we will touch if we are faithful to our calling and the one who first chose us. Let us choose, then, to go out and bear fruit, fruit that will last.
Let us pray: Lord, thank you for choosing me to be your own. Help me to discover the mission you planned for me. May my life be a life well lived in service to your kingdom.
