Judging no one
From today’s Scripture: “He saw and believed.” —Jn 20:8
Why do you believe in Jesus? Do you believe in the resurrected Christ? If you pause and reflect just a moment you may discover our faith in the resurrection of Christ is based on an empty tomb and w
itnesses. The Gospels go to great length to demonstrate that the tomb was empty and the body of Jesus was not there. The testimony of the Gospels and the empty tomb is the only proof.
So why do you believe? Jesus says, “Blessed are those who have not seen and believed” (John 20:29). That is ever Christian since the death of the original apostles and the 500 witnesses mentioned in 1 Cor 15:6. Our belief is based on more than just this testimony.
Hopefully, our faith is also based on our personal experience of Christ, in our prayer, in the sacraments, in this Holy Word, and through the Holy Spirit. Blessed are you who believe but have not touched his side or eaten fish on the shore with him. Blessed are you who know Him and follow Him. Go and share that blessing with others. May your testimony lead others to faith!
Jesus Christ is Risen, indeed. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
Let us pray: O Jesus, help us share your love and mercy with those who do not know you. May my life be a witness and may I have courage to share my faith with others. Amen. Alleluia.
