Called to mission

From today’s Scripture: “During the night Paul had a vision. A Macedonian stood before him and implored him with these words, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us.’ When he had seen the vision, we sought passage to Macedonia at once, concluding that God had called us to proclaim the Good News to them.”— Acts 16:9-10
As Christians, we are each called to be missioners. We are called to proclaim the good news of the gospel. For most of us, this will not involve traveling to foreign lands. But God still calls us to be available, to be open to sacred encounters like Paul and Timothy were in this scripture passage.
More than likely, we won’t have visions to tell us where to go and what the needs are. But with the help of the Holy Spirit and an open and willing heart, we will find the opportunities God puts in our path. Will we seize the opportunity?
Let us pray: Loving God, give me the grace to share the Good News with those I encounter each day. Help me to follow Paul and Timothy’s example as I strive to seize the missionary moments you put in my path.
