Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

God is calling

From today’s Scripture: “Jesus said to Simon, ‘Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.’ When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him.”–Lk 5:10b-11

The call to follow Christ comes to each of us in a unique way, dependent on our situation. Perhaps you are a fisherman, like Simon, or a parent, a business-person, or a student. Though each calling is unique, Christ reminds us, “Do not be afraid.”

Let us pray: Gracious Father, you are with us in every situation. May we ever be reminded of your presence and respond to your call to follow you, trusting in the ever-present love of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.
