Take part

From today’s Scripture: “When the Pharisees with some scribes who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus, they observed that some of his disciples ate their meals with unclean, that is, unwashed, hands.”—Mk 7:1-2
We see here two types of people around Jesus. One group looks on, seemingly at a distance with some curiosity and judgment. The second is one who feasts around his table. This second group acts in a way that suggests they know something the first do not. We do not know by looking on but by taking part. Let us join Christ at his table.
Let us pray: Heavenly Father, preparer of the future wedding banquet, may we, every day, answer your call to feast at the Eucharistic table until we may feast with you in glory.
