Pleasing God

From today’s Scripture: “[Jesus said,] ‘I do nothing on my own, but I say only what the Father taught me. . . . I always do what is pleasing to him.’ Because he spoke this way, many came to believe in him.”—Jn 8:28,29
Some people who speak only about their own notions, without connecting them to facts, or authority, or research are difficult for me to accept and I rarely adopt their ideas.
Jesus identifies the source of his teaching, “I say only what the Father taught me.” God Himself is the source of Jesus’ teaching and wisdom. And pleasing God is his only goal. That kind of integrity attracts followers.
Let us pray: O God, give me the grace today to say what you teach and live like you. I want to be your missioner and I want to be effective.
