Show me the way.

From today’s Scripture: “In the tender compassion of our God the dawn from on high shall break upon us, to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace.”—Lk 1:78-79
What a great promise in today’s Gospel that God will “guide our feet into the way of peace.” As I am writing this, I’m praying for each person who reads this reflection, and I see a picture of God giving you a Christmas gift. He is holding a compass in his hand, and offering it to you.
For some, this compass might help you turn onto God’s path fully for the very first time or as a re-set, closing the door completely to competing paths. Some may feel God leading you to turn a different direction than you thought you were headed. For all, God’s plans for your life’s journey are good, prosperous, full of hope, full of future!
Just as Mary gave birth to our Christ and trusted that God’s path was the only way to go (even when it looked bleak!), we can put our faith completely in God and believe that his plans for our lives are even better than the very best plan we could think up on our own.
Let us pray: Lord, thank you for the gifts and guidance that you give me. I trust you and want to follow you completely. I believe the plans you have for me are good!
