God is here.

From today’s Scripture: “I was like a trusting lamb led to slaughter.”—Jeremiah 11:19
Anguish and sin, confusion and division, our Scripture passages today are filled with them. Jeremiah cries out to be rescued by the Lord, wanting justice for his enemies. Where is God? Does God care?
The same is true of Jesus in today’s Gospel. The people don’t know how to take him. They are confused and divided. Some see Jesus as a prophet and healer. Others are taken aback by his humble origins from a backwater town in Galilee. Jesus wasn’t special. After all, they knew his family and they weren’t much to brag about either. Some wanted to harm him because he spoke with authority. Where is God? Right here in this time of Lent, inviting us to believe, to see more deeply.
Let us pray: Faithful God, where can I turn in my need but to you? So often I don’t know what to think or what to do. Send your Spirit and fill me with your wisdom. Give me your courage to do what is right and just.
