Fourth Sunday of Advent

Fourth Sunday of Advent

New life

From today’s Scripture: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” —Lk 1:38

This is the fourth Sunday of Advent, but we are all thinking Christmas Eve this year—the Fourth week of Advent only lasts a day! The readings blend well as a transition between Advent and Christmas. Hopefully Advent has prepared us to say yes to whatever seemingly impossible thing God asks of us. In opening us to his will, new life may emerge. Even more incredible, we will be cooperating with the creative force of salvation for the world.

Let us pray: O Infant Lord, fill us with your love. Help us be willing to do the unexpected for the sake of your kingdom according to your word.
