Mary, Mother of God

Daily Reflection

Mary, Mother of God

A listening ear

From today’s Scripture: “And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.”—Luke 2:19

Mother Mary knows the joys and sorrows of life. She is a great Mother to have on this first day of the year. She cradles us in her bosom and wipes away our tears. She watches us as we grow and learn. She is always present with a comforting word, a listening ear and a warm smile.

When things get too rough she leads us to her son, Jesus. She is the only person in the Bible who was with Jesus from conception through death of the Cross, the Ascension and the coming of the Holy Spirit. She is here for us on the brand new day and brand new year.

Let us pray: Mary, you witness to the divinity of your son. Help us to look through you to see Jesus, and allow him to work in our lives. Be with us in our joys and sorrows; show us, in this new year, how to open our hearts to what will surprise us in the coming months!
