Be humble and kind.
From today’s Scripture: “‘For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.’”—Lk 14:11
Early in my career, my boss went out of her way to praise work I did at a board meeting. It was an eye opener to me. Prior to this time so many of the people I had worked with spent enormous amounts of energy promoting themselves at the expense of others. My boss understood so much can be accomplished by thinking of others rather than focusing on her stature.
There is psychological research that demonstrates the positive mental aspects of those who serve others. By humbling ourselves, God will exalt us. The ultimate example is Jesus, who humbles himself on the cross for us.
Let us pray: Lord, help me put others before myself.
