Bridging the divide

From today’s Scripture: “Amen, I say to you, all sins and all blasphemies that people utter will be forgiven them.”—Mk 3:28
In the midst of the scribes calling him possessed in today’s Gospel, Jesus still extends his mercy and forgiveness. He calls for the forgiveness of sins after preaching that a kingdom or house cannot stand divided against itself. Forgiveness is key to bring about unity from division. It mends our relationships with our brothers and sisters and, most especially, it bridges the divide that sin creates between ourselves and God.
Let us pray: Lord God, thank you for the gift of mercy you offer to me. Help me to offer the same forgiveness to those in my life who have hurt me.
