It’s not about you.

From today’s Scripture: “And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”—Lk 11:9
This passage can easily be misinterpreted if done so literally. Sometimes our prayer can be reduced to “give me.” We need to see more than ourselves when we pray.
The important part of this reading is to remember God’s “fatherly” care for us. He might say no if what we ask for is not good for ourselves or someone else.
Let us pray: Lord, help me feel confident that I can ask for anything. Help me to truly listen for your response and to trust you when the answer is “no” or “not now.”
