A light to all

From today’s Scripture: “...a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.”—Lk 2:32
The Presentation of new children in the Temple was a part of the Jewish religion. Jesus as an infant was taken to the Temple to be presented to the Lord. Two elderly people, Simeon and Anna, spent their lives waiting for the Lord. Simeon’s message was that Jesus is a light for the world, a light to the Gentiles, a light to all. Amen! We are the people Jesus invites to follow him.
Are we a light to others? How can we be beacons of hope and light to all and not just a few? Not only to our family and friends, but also to everyone we come in contact with: the stranger, the homeless, the migrant worker, the unseen. Let our lights shine.
Let us pray: Jesus, your light gives hope to the world. You call me to share your light with all whom I come in contact with each day.
