Using our gifts

From today’s Scripture: “‘…There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a hedge around it, dug a wine press in it, and built a tower. Then he leased it to tenants and went on a journey. When vintage time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to obtain his produce.’”—Mt 21:33-34
We have been given a beautiful vineyard filled with everything we need. We have been given special talents to use to produce much fruit. It’s a pure gift.
In the beginning we use our gifts to the fullest, producing bountiful fruit. As time goes by, we become stingy with our gifts, causing less growth. Eventually we walk away from the gift, leaving it unattended. God comes to us through the people he sends to help us stay on track or get us back on track. How do we receive him when He asks, “How is your vineyard?”
Let us pray: Lord, thank you for the many gifts you give. Thank you for the people you send to help me stay close to you. Help me to see your loving care and mercy in each of them.
