Creating space in my life

From today’s Scripture: “For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.” — Luke 6:38
There is a holy relationship between giving and receiving; they empower and inspire each other. This principle is outlined in today’s Gospel as Jesus tells us, “the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.”
During Lent, we fast. This practice creates space in our lives and in our hearts to receive a fresh infilling of understanding and grace. In turn, when we feel refreshed and aware that God is constantly giving Himself to us, it’s easier for us to extend this same generosity to others.
So let’s ask ourselves: Am I generous towards others? Are the words I speak alive with encouragement and kindness? Am I generous with my time? Do I need to grow in patience, and the willingness to be uncomfortable and spend time with people I know who could use a friend? Am I intentional about carving out time to be alone with God, the way that Jesus and so many of His saints did to be strengthened in the spirit?
Let us pray: Lord, I pray that I will grow in understanding the depths and richness of the gifts you freely give me. Help me to extend that same generosity to others, and in doing so, offer them a reflection of your abundant love.
