Second Saturday in Ordinary Time

Gospel logic

From today’s Scripture: “When his relatives found out, they went looking for him, saying that he had lost his mind.”—Mark 3:21

Some people who knew Jesus considered him crazy. They were used to hearing, for example, “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.” Instead, in his madness of love, Jesus taught, “To him who strikes you on one cheek, present him the other also.”

Following Jesus and doing everything possible to live like him often means doing things that seem illogical by the world’s standards. Donate, instead of trading; reuse and recycle, instead of throwing away and buying; forgive, rather than avenge.

Let us pray: Dear Jesus, help me to imitate you in your madness of love, in your divine logic that transcends and surpasses human logic.
