Go to the expert
From today’s Scripture: “As they were coming down from the mountain, the disciples asked Jesus….”—Mt 17:9
Today Jesus responds to a question about Elijah and the coming of the Messiah. By his answer, he explains that John had performed the role of Elijah, preparing the way. He effectively confirms to them that he, himself, is the Messiah. It’s a wonderful mental picture of them walking, the apostles asking questions while Jesus patiently answers. It’s a great reminder that when questions of faith arise, we should go to the expert: Jesus.
Let us pray: Lord, when questions arise, give me the faith to turn to you for the answer.
