Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Conversations with God.

From today’s Scripture: “I have waited, waited for the LORD, and he stooped toward me and heard my cry.”—Psalm 40:2

How many times do we doubt the power of prayer! Many times we feel that our prayer is a monologue. I remember one time when I was short on money I drove an old car for work that I knew would break down at any moment. One of my requests to God was that I could receive my first payment from where I had just started working, before the car needed any repairs.

When I cashed my first check, I left the bank and started the car. I had barely driven a few meters when boom! The vehicle suddenly turned off, still inside the shopping center. I remember there was a little hill that connected to a parking area, so I just let it go and parked it. God had granted me exactly what I had asked for! My car had been working perfectly until I had money to repair it.

Let us pray: Lord, I believe, but increase my faith. Help me to trust you more and to live with the full security that you hear our prayers.
