Seventh Day of Christmas

Seventh Day of Christmas

Joy and thanks

From today’s Scripture: “All things came to be through him and without him nothing came to be. What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race; this light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”—Jn 1:3-5

This is the last day of the year. It is a great moment to review the past and move forward to the future. I will look at the past by looking where there was life! I could focus on the sins of the past, the mistakes and errors and all the places of darkness, yet I do not wish to bring that forward to the new year.

Instead I wish to bring life with me to the new year and so I wish to celebrate all the moments that made life good last year. I wish to end my year full of joy and hope. All life comes and returns to God. So when I celebrate life, I am thanking the Lord for all he has done for me. Life and light become the path of new beginnings.

Let us pray: O Lord, forgive all my sins of last year. O Lord, I thank you for all the joys and signs of life of last year. O Lord, please bless the new year ahead. May I live life in the light now and all the days to come.
