How is your heart?

From today’s Scripture: “Let the words of my mouth and the thought of my heart, find favor before you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”—Ps 19:15
We all have wise people in our lives, whether we are aware of them or not. It may be someone with whom we have had a brief but significant encounter, or a friend of many years.
One of the wisdom figures in my life would begin our conversations when we met, not with, “How are you?” but rather with asking, “How is your heart today?” From her I learned that by listening carefully, the words of others often reveal the state of their hearts.
Who are the wise people in your life? What have they given you?
Let us pray: Today Lord, I give thanks for all the wise people you have placed in my life. Guide me so that I may apply the gifts they have given to the many encounters that I will have.
