Mercy

From today’s Scripture: “To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”—Lk 6:27
Through our Baptism we are those “who belong to Christ.” Lent 2022 is approaching quickly. It is time to begin thinking of how we will be making this Lent a time of renewal. Jesus is challenging us to think about what our actions say about our faith, our belonging to him.
As we look at our lives this Sunday, let’s ask ourselves: Do I show “mercy” only to those I consider “deserving” of it? Do I allow the one who takes what I consider “mine”, to keep it? Do I love those whom I consider “my enemy”? What do our actions reveal about our “belonging”?
Let us pray: Lord, as I enter this week, please reveal to me where you are challenging me today to become more like you.
