Transformed by the Spirit

From today’s Scripture: “Brothers and sisters: Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for the temple of God, which you are, is holy.”–1 Cor 3:16
St. Paul’s words were addressed to the people of Corinth but could just as easily be addressed to each of us. A temple is a holy and sacred space and place. At our Baptism the Spirit of God dwells in us and we are transformed into “the temple of God”—we are a holy and sacred vessel that emanates the beauty and glory of God. It is a beauty and glory is not earthly but eternal.
How do I reflect that divine presence indwelling in me? How do I interact with others, especially those that are challenging for me to be with? How do I treat my body, the vessel for the Spirit of God?
Let us pray: My Lord and my God, help me to begin each day with an awareness that your Spirit dwells in me. May my actions throughout the day reflect the holiness and sacredness that befits the temple of God that I am.
