Generosity

From today’s Scripture: “Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, amen, I say to you will surely not lose his reward.”—Mk 9:41
I probably think the most about stocking up on water when storms threaten my home in Tennessee. Suddenly, I am very conscious of what it means to “not have enough.”
Usually water is something I take for granted. A cup of water seems so insignificant to give someone. Many times, I excuse myself from doing anything about this or that situation because the situation is overwhelming. I tell myself that it would not make much of a difference. So, I end up not giving anything. Yet I know that God is not asking me to do something grandiose but calling me to give what I can. Today, to whom is God calling me to give that “cup of water”?
Let us pray: Lord let me do today what I can to push your kingdom forward. Help me to be as generous with others as you have been to me.
